COMPETITION
COMPOSITION OF THE JURY
The jury was composed of 17 members appointed by the various national
federations. Mr. NIVET (France) was elected President of the Jury at
the 2nd draw. Some members did not seem to have the necessary
competence and were not used to judging competitions. However, they
represented only a small minority of the jurors.
FILMS PRESENTED
In the future, it would be desirable that in the future the films
presented be accompanied by a translation in 4 languages (French,
English, German and Spanish.) It would be desirable that the filmmaker
should precede the normal title with a translation in 4 languages of
the same title, (30 copies of the translations should be provided).
Films with rigorous synchronisation should be on magnetic tape.
Presentation on the author's material is not always possible.
In our case, all Belgian films were made in the best possible
technical conditions.
The political or pornographic films that were presented did not stand
a chance. One USSR film was cut and excluded. Two Swedish pornographic
films were excluded. Two others were not excluded but were rated
significantly below their intrinsic cinema value. I intervened
personally to request the exclusion of a French film "Vere Languores"
and was outvoted by 7 votes to 6 with 4 abstentions. The film only
received one mention, as some members of the jury preferred to express
their disapproval in this way.

Le jury était composé de 17 membres désignés par les diverses
fédérations nationales. Monsieur NIVET (France) a été élu Président du
Jury au 2e tiur, Certains memberes ne paraissaient pas avoir la
compétence nécessaire ni l'habitude du jugement dans les concours. Ils
ne représentaient toutefois qu'un faible minorité des jurés.
FILMS PRESENTES
Il serait souhatable qu'à l'avenir les présentés soient accompagnés
d'une traduction en 4 langues (francais, anglais, allemand et
espagnol.) Il serait souhaitable que l'auteur di film fasse précéder
con titre normal par une traduction en 4 langues de ce même titre,
(Prévoir 30 exemplaires des tradictions).
Les films à synchroisation rigoreuse ont intérât à etrte sur piste
magnétique. La présentation sur le matérial de l'auteur n'est pas
toujours possible.
Dans notre cas, tous les films belges sint passés dans les meilleures
conditions technique possibles.
Les films politiue our pornograophiques présenteées n'ont eu aucine
chance. Un film USSR a ét0233 coupé et exclu. Deux pornograpghiques
Suédois ont été exclus. Deux autres à ,e,e tendance n'ont pas été exlu
mais ont été côtés nettement en-dessous de leur valeur intrinsèque
cinema. Je suis intervenu personellement puir demander l'exclusion
d'un film francaus "Vere Languores" et ai été mis en minorité par 7
voix contre 6 et 4 abstentions. Le film n'a obtenu qu'une mention,
certains membres du jury ayant préféré marquer leur désapprobation de
cette façon.

ZUSAMMENSETZUNG DER JURY
Die Jury setzte sich aus 17 Mitgliedern zusammen, die von den
verschiedenen nationalen Verbänden ernannt wurden. Herr NIVET
(Frankreich) wurde bei der 2. Auslosung zum Präsidenten der Jury
gewählt. Einige Mitglieder schienen nicht die notwendige Kompetenz
oder die Gewohnheit zu haben, bei Wettbewerben zu richten. Sie
stellten jedoch nur eine kleine Minderheit der Geschworenen dar.
PRÄSENTIERTE FILME
Es wäre wünschenswert, dass in Zukunft den vorgestellten Filmen eine
Übersetzung in 4 Sprachen (Französisch, Englisch, Deutsch und
Spanisch) vorangestellt wird (30 Kopien der Übersetzungen).
Die Filme mit strenger Synchronisation müssen auf Magnetspur sein. Die
Präsentation auf dem Material des Autors ist nicht immer möglich.
In unserem Fall wurden alle belgischen Filme unter den bestmöglichen
technischen Bedingungen gedreht.
Die politischen oder pornografischen Filme, die präsentiert wurden,
hatten keine Chance. Ein Film aus der UdSSR wurde geschnitten und
ausgeschlossen. Zwei schwedische pornografische Filme wurden
ausgeschlossen. Zwei weitere mit ,e,e-Trend wurden nicht
ausgeschlossen, aber weit unter ihrem eigentlichen Kinowert bewertet.
Ich habe persönlich interveniert, um den Ausschluss des französischen
Films "Vere Languores" zu beantragen und wurde mit 7 zu 6 Stimmen bei
4 Enthaltungen überstimmt. Der Film erhielt nur eine Erwähnung, da
einige Jurymitglieder es vorzogen, ihre Missbilligung auf diese Weise
auszudrücken.

It should be
noted that the best ranked are excellent travel and reportage films
where the author has been able to highlight the human element. On
the other hand, films with scientific and complicated commentaries
were not particularly appreciated. Even the French-speaking jurors
did not rate these films highly. For information, the ratings of the
film "Secrets" were between 65 and 19.
Il est à
remarquer que les mieux classés sont d'excellents films de voyage et
de reportage où l'auteur a su mettre en relief l'élémen humain. Par
contre les films à commentaires scientifiques et compliqués n'ont
pas été particulièrement appréciés. Meme les jurés d'expression
françaide n'ont pas bien côtés ces films. A titre documentaire les
cotes du film "Secrets" ont été comprises entre 65 et 19.
Es ist
anzumerken, dass es sich bei den bestplatzierten Filmen um
hervorragende Reise- und Reportagefilme handelt, bei denen es dem
Autor gelungen ist, das menschliche Element hervorzuheben.
Andererseits wurden Filme mit wissenschaftlichen und komplizierten
Kommentaren nicht besonders geschätzt. Selbst französischsprachige
Juroren bewerteten diese Filme nicht hoch. Zur Information: Die
Bewertungen des Films "Secrets" lagen zwischen 65 und 19.

Michèle' is a profoundly compassionate film, with a remarkable
grandeur of soul, shot in black and white using very simple means.
A story about a high school in France. Die grüne Seife' is a
comedy; it is also a genre that is in great demand and that
appeals. All films with a somewhat risqué character did not score
points.

humain et sa sensibilité qui ont obtenu le plus de succès.
Michèle" est un film profondément compatissant, d'une remarquable
grandeur d'âme, tourné en noir et blanc avec des moyens très
simples. C'est l'histoire d'un lycée en France. Die grüne Seife"
est une comédie ; c'est aussi un genre très demandé et qui séduit.
Tous les films avec un personnage un peu risqué n'ont pas marqué
de points.
- Die Filme 18 bis 31 erhielten keine Auszeichnungen. Es ist auch
das menschliche Element und seine Sensibilität, das den größten
Erfolg erzielt hat. Michèle" ist ein zutiefst mitfühlender Film
mit einer bemerkenswerten Seelengröße, der mit sehr einfachen
Mitteln in Schwarz-Weiß gedreht wurde. Eine Geschichte über eine
Highschool in Frankreich. Die grüne Seife' ist eine Komödie; auch
das ist ein Genre, das sehr gefragt ist und das gefällt. Alle
Filme, die einen etwas gewagten Charakter haben, konnten nicht
punkten.
GENERAL
LEVEL OF THE FILMS PRESENTED
Among these films there were some excellent ones, some middle ranking
ones but many films unworthy of UNICA that were presented by new and
even other nations. There were also productions of professional cinema
for narrow-gauge film "emanating from national or para-national bodies
which, in my opinion, have no place in amateur film competitions.
NIVEAU
GENERAL DES FILMS PRESENTES
Parmi ces films on en trouvait d'excellents, quelques moyens mais
beaucoup de films indignes de l'UNICA qui étaient présentées par des
nations nouvelle et même par d'autres. Il y avait également des
productions de la cinéma professionel pour film étroit "émanent
d'organismes nationeaux our para-nationaux qui, à mon avis, n'ont rien
à faire dans des compétitions de cinéma d'amateur.
ALLGEMEINES
NIVEAU DER VORGESTELLTEN FILME
Unter diesen Filmen gab es einige hervorragende, einige mittlere, aber
auch viele der UNICA unwürdige Filme, die von neuen Nationen und sogar
von anderen präsentiert wurden. Es gab auch professionelle
Filmproduktionen für den Schmalfilm, "die von nationalen oder
paranationalen Gremien ausgehen, die meiner Meinung nach in
Amateurfilmwettbewerben nichts zu suchen haben.
